New awards program to honor Ozarks cultural preservation efforts

Ozarks Alive has announced the “Rock Picking Awards”, an awards program designed to spotlight the people and organizations around the Ozarks working to preserve the history and culture of the region.

Organizers of the event say their goal is to recognize the people and organizations that do meaningful work that defines the Ozarks.

Nominations are open through June 15, with anyone able to submit individuals or organizations for consideration for categories such as historical preservation, creative arts, music, and community building.

Selected nominees will be invited to formally apply after the deadline, with a panel of judges choosing the 2026 award winners.

A celebration to honor the winners will be held in Springfield at The Library Center in November.
