One of Springfield’s oldest manufacturing plants is closing.
Originally opened in 1959 as the Dayco Plant, the Timken Belts Manufacturing Plant at 2601 W. Battlefield will be shutting down by the end of this year.
283 jobs will be affected and workers will be laid off from August until December 2026.
This closure follows the sale of the Belts Division of Timken to the Gates Corporation.
The Springfield plant was not part of the sale.
