Hawley Bill Targeting Child Exploitation Moves Forward

Senator Josh Hawley’s Renewed Hope Act, part of a Department of Homeland Security funding package, recently cleared the Senate Homeland Security Committee and heads to the floor this week.

The proposal would allow approximately $108.5 million to hire 200 child exploitation investigators and forensic analysts, significantly expanding a team that currently has only seven analysts.

The initiative follows March testimony from former NFL player Tim Tebow, who highlighted that while hundreds of thousands of U.S.

IP addresses are linked to child abuse material, few cases are investigated. Reports suggest nearly 89,000 child victims remain unidentified.

Hawley described the measure as a vital step in helping exploited children.
