Destructive Hail Hits Springfield and the Ozarks

Destructive hail slammed the Springfield metro area late Tuesday morning and into the afternoon, with up to softball size hail shattering windows and denting numerous vehicles.

There have been no reports of injuries.

We have received numerous reports of damage, with the northwest side of Springfield being one of the hardest hit areas.

Hail damaged a number of vehicles on the parking lot of the Springfield-Branson National Airport and the Courtyard by Marriott hotel near I-44 and Division.

Another round of severe storms moved through the Springfield area during the 1 and 2pm hours, with the National Weather Service warning of up to ping pong ball size hail.
