A new initiative to enhance safety for individuals with disabilities during interactions with law enforcement is being launched across the Ozarks.
The “Blue Envelope” program is being led by the Springfield Police Department and in partnership with police departments in Ozark, Nixa, Hollister and Indian Point.
The program aims to help officers recognize communication challenges for individuals with autism or hearing impairments by providing a blue envelope that contains important documents and indicates to officers for additional communication support.
