State Health Director Issues Order For Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine to be Administered in Missouri

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director Dr. Randall Williams has signed a standing order for the Janssen Biotech, Inc. (Johnson & Johnson) to be administered in Missouri.

The move comes after the single-dose vaccine was authorized for emergency use for the prevention of COVID-19 for those 18 or older by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Saturday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also made preliminary recommendations of the vaccine on Sunday.

This is the third vaccine authorized for emergency use in the United States.

Williams says approximately 50,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are expected to arrive in Missouri this week.
