Missouri Speed Limit Increase Heads to Governor’s Desk

Drivers in Missouri could soon be moving a little faster on the interstate.

Lawmakers passed Senate Bill 1408 during the final hours of the regular legislative session on Friday, sending the measure to Mike Kehoe for final approval.

If signed into law, the bill would raise the speed limit on many rural interstate highways from 70 to 75 miles per hour.

That change would affect large stretches of highways across the state, including Interstate 35, Interstate 44, Interstate 55, and Interstate 70, where the current posted speed is 70.

Now the decision rests with the governor.
