A Heartland Pride event in Mansfield is now looking for a new venue after the city cancelled it’s reservation on the town square.
“It’s one of our First Amendment rights to be here just as much as the prayer on the square each week that they have.” said Theresa Nicolosi, the organizer of Mansfield Pride.
She said she’s working to bring education and awareness about the LGBTQ+ community to Mansfield. She organized the event on the town’s square last June.
At the city council meeting last week, Nicolosi said, the city decided to pull her reservation and was told it was due to a clerical error. Nicolosi believes the type of event affected their decision.
The Mansfield Square is shut down now for the entire month of June which is, of course, Pride Month.
