A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from the Missouri Attorney General’s Office against Starbucks regarding its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
The lawsuit, filed in February 2025 by then-Attorney General Andrew Bailey, claimed that Starbucks’ DEI practices constituted unlawful discrimination.
However, U.S. District Court Judge John Ross ruled that the state failed to identify any Missouri resident harmed by these employment practices, leading to the formal dismissal of the case.

A motorcyclist is hospitalized in critical condition after a crash in Springfield Friday night.
Springfield Police say the crash happened at the intersection of South Harvard Avenue and East Swallow Street when a car was making a turn and the motorcycle struck the car.
The rider of the motorcycle landed under the car.
Firefighters got the motorcyclist out from underneath the car.

A jury trial for former Benton County Treasurer Richard Renno, accused of child enticement and sexual misconduct, is scheduled for November in Polk County due to a venue change.
Renno resigned in July 2025 following his arrest for allegedly communicating with a 14-year-old boy via Grindr.
A pre-trial conference is set for August in Polk County Court.

The Dickerson Park Zoo announced the death of a 19-year-old lioness Shetani Tuesday due to chronic kidney disease and cognitive dysfunction.
These health issues impacted her personality and overall well-being, so she was humanely euthanized.
Shetani was born in November 2006, at the Pueblo Zoo in Colorado and arrived at Dickerson Park Zoo in March 2008.
