Greene Co Critical Incident Team Investigating Christian Co Deputies Shooting

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the fatal shooting of two Christian County deputies.

Captain Marc Staeger leads the Greene County Sheriff’s Critical Incident Team, which is gathering evidence and coordinating updates with Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole.

Investigators are documenting the crime scene and stated that the investigation is ongoing, with new findings to be shared with Sheriff Cole.

Man Jailed For Road Rage at Buc-ees

A man is in custody after being charged with unlawful use of a weapon following an incident near Buc-ee’s on February 25.

A probable cause statement says that Duane Holland of Springfield allegedly forced the victim’s vehicle off the road as he attempted to pass in his pickup truck.

The victim reported seeing Holland allegedly point a black handgun at him, later identified by law enforcement as a Glock G-26 found in Holland’s possession.

He is currently held in Greene County Jail.

Tragedy struck the Ozarks on Monday, February 23rd when two Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies were killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Gabriel Ramirez and Deputy Michael Hislope were shot and killed by a gunman, while Christian County Deputy Josh Wahl and Webster County Deputy Austin McCall were wounded.

Since 2021, the Christian County 100 Club has been raising funds in preparation for a tragedy they hoped never would occur.

Body Found in McDonald County

McDonald County detectives are investigating a body found last week near Indian Creek Drive in Lanagan.

The body was partially submerged in a creek.

Although a wallet with a driver’s license was found, the individual’s identity couldn’t be confirmed by deputies at the scene.

An autopsy later identified the dead man as 43-year-old Darick Cochran.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office.

The memorial service will be Saturday at 1 PM at James River Church in Ozark.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Both deputies died in the line of duty Monday.

Deputy Michael Hislope joined the sheriff’s office in October 2019, while Deputy Gabriel Ramirez started in March 2025.

Law enforcement in the Ozarks held a procession on Wednesday to honor two Christian County deputies who were killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Gabriel Ramirez was shot during a traffic stop on Monday.

Deputy Michael Hislope was killed when he was involved in a shootout later that night with the suspect, Richard Bird.

Two other deputies were injured in a shootout with the suspect.

Several local organizations are stepping up to help the families of Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies Gabriel Ramirez and Michael Hislope, who died after being shot by the same gunman Monday and early Tuesday.

One of those groups is the Christian County 100 Club, which provides financial and emotional support for families of first responders killed in the line of duty.
