Man Wanted In Laclede County

The Laclede County Sheriff is warning the community to be on the lookout for a wanted man.

Alexander Reed was set to appear in court for a hit-and-run charge but failed to make an appearance.

Reed was last seen near the Niangua area.

The Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook Monday evening saying that anyone with information as to Reed’s whereabouts should contact the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office at 417-532-2311.

No Injuries in House Fire in Mountain Grove

A house fire in Mountain Grove has left five people without a home, but resulted in no injuries early Monday morning.

The Mountain Grove Fire Department received a call of a working structure fire at around 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found the home fully engulfed, and firefighters had to take a defensive strategy to battle the flames.

The Wright County Sheriff informed firefighters before arriving that all five individuals inside the home made it out safely. First responders seized operations after the owner told firefighters to “let it go”. No cause of the fire has been determined.

The response ended with firefighters calling a towing service to pull out one of the fire engines that had become stuck.

Police Investigate Armed Robbery at Dogwood Inn in Springfield

Police are investigating a robbery that happened over the weekend at Dogwood Inn on north Glenstone in Springfield.

Police say a man met with a woman at that location Saturday afternoon, pulled out a gun and stole money and a cell phone from her.

The man fled the scene before police arrived.

Police say there’s no threat to the general public.

James River Freeway Speed Limit Returns to 60 Miles Per Hour Between National and Highway 65

The speed limit on James River Freeway between National and Highway 65 in Springfield has returned to the original 60 miles per hour.

The speed limit had been at 50 miles per hour for safety reasons during construction of the barrier wall and new lanes of Highway 60.

The new east and westbound left lanes of James River Freeway are closed until final pavement is installed in the spring.

Springfield Observes Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day

Two major events in Springfield are being held Monday to observe Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day.

The Springfield chapter of the NAACP organized Monday morning’s march through downtown.

Participants met at Mediacom Ice Park and marched to Park Central Square for an outdoor program.

The Springfield Multicultural Festival is being held virtually for the second straight year.

It starts at 12:30 p.m. Monday and includes music and dance performaces representing cultures from all over the world.

Police Investigate Man’s Death in North Springfield

Police are investigating a man’s death in north Springfield.

Officers found the victim suffering from a medical emergency when they responded to a disturbance call Sunday afternoon on Kansas Expressway near High.

Authorities say the man had been involved in a fight with another person, but they say the medical emergency didn’t match up with any signs of an assault.

The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police are questioning a person of interest.

Snow Falling Across the Ozarks on This Saturday–Get the Latest on Road Conditions and Snowfall Amounts

It’s a snowy Saturday in the Ozarks, with morning snowfall totals across southwest Missouri ranging from a trace amounts to more than three inches.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for all of southwest Missouri until 9 p.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service says widespread snow amounts are expected to range from a dusting to three inches, with some locally higher amounts up to four inches for areas west of Highway 65.

Plan on slippery road conditions, especially in areas where heavier snowfall can overcome above freezing road temperatures.

Check road conditions in the Ozarks and from around the state here with the MoDOT Traveler Information Map.

By 10 a.m., road along and west of Highway 65 were snow covered to partly covered, with areas east of 65 clear to partly covered.

Snow was covering roads in the Kansas City and Jefferson City areas, with partly covered roads in the St. Louis area.

The snow should be ending between 2 and 4 p.m. in the Springfield metro area, with blowing snow through the evening.

MODOT Says Avoid Travel Saturday

With snow is forecast for much of Missouri overnight continuing through Saturday, The Missouri Department of Transportation urges people to avoid travel if possible.

If you must travel Friday night or Saturday, use extra caution, anticipate slower travel times and consult the Traveler Information Map for road conditions.

All available crews will be out across the state working 12-hour shifts, but staffing is short across the state due to turnover and sickness.

Two Charged in Death of Galena Man

Two people have been charged in connection to the death of a Galena man.

The Highway Patrol says 57-years-old Shelia Phillips and 54-years-old Gerald Hoffman, both from Galena, are charged with two counts of tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of 69 year Billy Mack Walker, also of Galena.

Walker’s nude body was found in the Sac River near Greenfield back in December.

An autopsy revealed he had died from a gunshot. They are being held in Stone County jail without bond.

Weekend Snow Predictions

There is a winter weather advisory in effect from 3 AM – 9 PM Saturday, January 15th.

Rain will kick off Friday evening, and switch to snow during the overnight hours.

The Springfield area is expected to receive 2- 4 inches of snow, with areas West of Springfield receiving lower amounts from a dusting to 2 inches.

Wind will pick up late in to Saturday evening, with wind chills in the teens. A chilly day on Sunday, but will have highs right above freezing. Expect temps in the 50s on Monday that should melt away the snow.

Minor road impacts are expected, especially when slushy and wet snow freezes into ice Saturday evening. Use precaution as you drive this weekend.
