Severe weather season is approaching, and this week is a good time to plan ways to keep you and your family safe when threatening weather approaches the Ozarks.
Missouri’s 2021 Statewide Tornado Drill will be held Tuesday, March 2nd, at 10 a.m.
This is an opportunity to practice sheltering plans for your home, school or workplace.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, NOAA Weather Radios and radio stations such as KWTO will alert listeners that the tornado drill has begun.
Outdoor warning sirens will also sound across Missouri.
At this time, participants should practice taking cover in their designated shelter.
Schools are encouraged to use the drill as an educational tool for students by incorporating tornado facts and meteorological information and safety tips into their lesson plans.
Missouri’s Statewide Tornado Drill is part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which includes:
Monday—-Have a Plan/Receive Weather Information Day
Tuesday—–Tornado Safety Day
Wednesday—-Lightning Safety Day
Thursday—-Hail/Wind Safety Day
Friday—-Flood Safety Day
