Springfield Man Charged with Assault and Impersonates Police Officer

A man from Springfield has been charged with assault and impersonating a police officer.

Nathan Smith is charged with two counts of false impersonation of a law enforcement officer, unlawful use of a weapon, and fourth degree assault.

Smith allegedly approached the victim in a convenience store parking lot on West Sunshine, told the victim he was a police officer, and demanded that the victim leave.

When the victim refused, Smith allegedly assaulted him with a knife.
