A Renewed Effort To Keep Kansas City Sports Teams In Kansas City

The effort to keep the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals in KC made it to the state Capitol on Wednesday.

Jackson County leaders met with lawmakers and Governor Kehoe to come up with a plan that will be agreeable to both taxpayers and the sports teams.

The Chiefs estimate Missouri receives 28.8 million dollars in tax revenue each year from their games. To keep both teams in Missouri, leaders are discussing an extension of a three-eighths cent sales tax already in place.

Jackson County voters turned down a similar plan last year, but the discussions on Wednesday focused on improving the plan.
