Severe Storm Potential in the Ozarks Friday evening

There’s a good bet for a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moving through the Ozarks Friday evening into the overnight hours.

The National Weather Service says the primary risk is damaging wind gusts, with a lower risk for a few brief tornadoes. Additionally, heavy rainfall may lead to localized flash flooding.

Pedestrian Killed On I-44

A pedestrian was killed early Thursday morning on I-44 under the Kansas Expressway overpass.

Springfield Police say 25-year-old Dustin Long was struck while crossing I-44 by a westbound bus driven by 58-year-old Wayne Robinson of Georgia.

Long died at the scene.

The incident is under investigation.

West Maplewood Shooting Suspect Charged

Charges have been filed against another suspect in a southwest Springfield shooting in March.

Court documents say 18-year-old Yefry Archaga of Southwest City faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges for the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Miles Young on West Maplewood.

Archaga was arrested in Webb City Tuesday.

Man Killed In U-T-V Accident In Hollister

A man is dead after an accident in Hollister just after midnight Thursday.

The Highway Patrol says a 60-year-old man from Hollister was killed when the U-T-V he was riding overturned on a private drive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lebanon Changes Street Name To Route 66

The City of Lebanon renamed Elm Street to Route 66.

On Wednesday, city crews began installing new signs along the corridor.

This change follows a resolution from the Lebanon City Council and is part of the city’s preparations for the Route 66 Centennial.

Possible Storms Wednesday Night

There could be a chance for storms Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service says there could be scattered showers and storms.

Some of these storms could produce penny to golf ball sized hail.

There is chance for some of these storms to be west of Highway 65 with quarter size hail and a damaging winds.
