The Missouri Department of Public Safety has renewed the Springfield Police Department’s Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026.
This program, initiated by Gov. Mike Kehoe in January 2025, acknowledges communities dedicated to improving public safety and law enforcement collaboration.
In 2025, 201 communities, including Springfield, achieved this designation, requiring them to reapply in 2026.
Communities with the Blue Shield designation are eligible for grants for law enforcement training and equipment.
