The National Weather Service in Springfield confirmed a brief EF-0 tornado touched down northwest of Lamar Friday night.
With winds of 80 mph, it traveled less than two miles and was under 50 yards wide, causing the destruction of an outbuilding, snapping power poles, and damaging trees.
This is likely the first confirmed tornado in Missouri for the year.
