Quade Appointed to Downtown Springfield Association

Former Springfield lawmaker Crystal Quade has been appointed as the new executive director of the Downtown Springfield Association.

Quade represented the 132nd District from January 2017 to January 2025 and was the Democratic nominee for Missouri governor in 2024.

She will officially start her new job on February 17.

City to Host Workshop On Expo Center

The City of Springfield and architect firm Populous will host a community visioning workshop on the Springfield Expo Center’s role in growth and vitality.

The workshop will discuss a 3% tourism tax increase on April 7 to fund the renovation and expansion.

The workshop will be held 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis St., and livestreamed on the City’s Facebook page and at cityview-dot-Springfield mo-dot-gov.

Armed Woman Arrested at Aurora Hospital

Law enforcement arrested a woman outside Mercy Hospital in Aurora after responding to a call about a combative individual being transported to the hospital.

She was found armed with a gun, and officers used a taser on her twice.

During her arrest, she fired one shot, but no injuries occurred.

The hospital was put on lockdown for safety until the situation was resolved.

The woman’s identity has not been released.

Man Found Dead in Hollister Identified

Hollister Police have identified a man found dead at U-S 65 and Meghan Drive last week.

Police have identified the dead man as Kevin Clint Lee, known as “Tex”.

His family has been notified.

Authorities report that Lee’s dog, Rosie, is missing and request public assistance in locating her.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
