Man Aims Bow & Arrow at Greene County Deputies

A man has been charged after being accused of aiming a bow and arrow at Greene County Deputies.

Court documents say Aaron Stogsdill of Springfield has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and second-degree property damage after allegedly aiming a bow and arrow at deputies on Monday.

Deputies told him to drop the weapon, but he did not comply.

Stogsdill is currently held in Greene County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.

Bicyclist Dies After Christmas Eve Crash

Springfield Police say a bicyclist has died from injuries sustained from a crash with a vehicle on Christmas Eve.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Chestnut Expressway and Campbell Avenue.

The victim, 65-year-old Daniel Oropeza, was riding southbound in the northbound lanes when he was struck by a car that was westbound.

Oropeza was hospitalized with serious injuries and died Tuesday.

Police Investigate Death at Branson Hotel

The Branson Police Department are investigating a death at the Four Seasons Inn Saturday night.

An autopsy indicated the preliminary cause of death was an overdose, with no signs of foul play, though toxicology results are pending.

An adult present during the incident has been arrested for failure to report the death.

84-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed, Driver Arrested

A pedestrian was killed in Barry County.

The Highway Patrol says an 84-year-old woman from Monett was struck by a car on Farm Road 1090 north of Purdy.

She died at the scene.

The driver of the car, 42-year-old Amberel Macdermant of Purdy (photo above), was arrested for D-W-I causing the death of another person.

MO Park Ranger Pleads Guilty To Sexual Misconduct

A Missouri park ranger pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct charges.

Court documents say Billy G. Stephens was charged with second-degree statutory rape and third-degree child molestation involving a child under 14.

He was sentenced to 10 years in jail after an investigation by Camden County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Park Rangers.

Nixa and Logan-Rogersville Win Titles at 80th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament

The number one seeds prevail at the 80th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament at Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, as the top seeded Logan Rogersville Wildcats capture the Blue Division title Tuesday night and the Nixa Eagles win the Gold.

For the Nixa Eagles, it’s their 13th Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament championship, holding off the Hartville Eagles 57-50 in the Gold Division finals.

Brock Blansit’s Eagles trailed 16-10 after one quarter, but knotted the game 28-28 going into the locker room at halftime.

Nixa took a 41-37 lead after three quarters, and held off Hartville’s late charge to pull within one title of the Kickapoo Chiefs’ all time Blue and Gold record of 14 championships.

Adam McKnight led a balanced scoring attack for Nixa with 14 points, followed by Jaylon Liddell and Ty Kellis with 13 points each.

Mason Cogdill led Hartville in scoring with 17 points.

The Logan-Rogersville Wildcats, who have more top four finishes and more overall wins than any team in Blue and Gold history, went ahead 20-10 after one quarter and never looked back, defeating the second seeded Willard Tigers 60-43 in the Blue Division championship game.

The Wildcats held a 34-14 lead at the half and 46-31 after three quarters.

L-R gets a game high 23 points from Titus Moore, with Chase Branham adding 18.

Colbee Mowell and Nahmy Kelley score 13 points each to lead Willard.

Final: (4) Glendale 66, (3) Republic 65 (Glendale’s Sylijah Davis hit 3 free throws with 2.8 seconds left in regulation to give the Falcons the win. Joelle Rover scored 28 points to lead Glendale, while A.J. Uhl’s 21 points were tops for the Tigers).

Finals Set at 80th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament

The championship matchups are set at the 80th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament in Springfield.

The top seeded Nixa Eagles will make a record 23rd appearance in a Blue and Gold championship game.

Nixa downed the 5th seeded Branson Pirates 72-54 in the first Gold Division semifinal game Monday afternoon at Great Southern Bank Arena.

Junior Adam McKnight scored 30 points to lead the Eagles, and his last bucket of the game marked the 1,000th point of his high school career.

2nd seeded Hartville beat West Plains 65-38 and will meet Nixa in the Gold Division championship game Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

In the Blue Division semifinals, the top seeded Logan Rogersville Wildcats cruised to an 80-46 win over fourth seeded Springfield Glendale, while #2 Willard downed #3 Republic 57-49 in the late game at The Vault.

The Wildcats and Tigers will do battle in the Blue Division Championship game Tuesday night at 8:30.

This will mark Logan-Rogersville’s first appearance in a Blue and Gold final since 2016.

Highway Patrol Releases Statistics for Christmas 2025 Counting Period

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 10 traffic fatalities and a total of 258 crashes, with 94 resulting in injuries during the 2025 Christmas holiday.

The reporting period was from December 24, 6 PM, to December 28, 11:59 PM.

There were fatal crashes in Shannon County on Christmas Day and in Barry County on December 27.

Additionally, there were 93 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated.
