Missouri Dept. of Conservation “Stream Teams” Seeking More Volunteers

The Missouri Department of Conservation is currently looking for volunteers for the department’s Stream Team program, according to a recent press release.

As the program’s name suggests, Stream Teams are volunteer programs where people clear trash from streams in urban and rural areas across the state.

The Missouri Stream Team is part of a joint effort by the MDC, the Conservation Federation of Missouri, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Stream Teams were first introduced in 1989 and has grown over the years to include nearly 900,000 volunteers split into 6,900 teams spread out across the state.

Teams have cleared 14,000 tons of trash out of state streams since starting the program.
