Another Bicyclist Killed in Springfield

A bicyclist has after being struck on Glenstone Saturday morning.

Springfield Police says the crash happened around 11:30 AM at the intersection of Glenstone and Broadmore, when a man on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle driven by a 78-year-old woman.

The bicyclist died after being was taken to a hospital.

His name has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.

Bicyclist Dies From Injuries

A bicyclist who was struck by an S-U-V on West Bypass earlier this week has died.

Springfield Police say they were notified of the death of 43-year-old Jennifer Collier of Springfield Friday.

She was stuck while crossing West Bypass at College Street on Sunday afternoon.

She was taken to a hospital. The accident is under investigation.

Man From Eminence Drowned at Jacks Fork River

A man drowned after falling into the Jacks Fork River in Shannon County.

The Highway Patrol says a 69-year-old man from Eminence fell into the river at the Alley Springs Campground and was swept downstream by the current.

His body was recovered around 2:30 PM.

Lawsuit Over SDC Trail Deraiment

 A lawsuit has been filed against Silver Dollar City in connection with a train derailment in 2022. 

Ronald and Tammy Yeaton of Wildwood, Missouri claim they were injured when the train they were riding in tipped over on its side.

The lawsuit alleges that Silver Dollar City failed to properly maintain the train cars.

A previous lawsuit filed by the Yeatons in 2024 was dismissed without prejudice in March.

Mobile Home & Camper Fire in Branson West

A mobile home and camper were destroyed by fire in Branson West.

Southern Stone County Fire Protection responded to the fire around midday Wednesday.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to the woods.

There were no injuries and investigators are not sure if the mobile home and camper were occupied.

The fire is under investigation.

A man from Joplin and two people from Missouri have been arrested and charged as part of the F-B-I’s Operation Restore Justice to arrest child sex predators.

An F-B-I news release says 47-year-old Clinton Gray of Joplin has been charged with distribution and receipt of child pornography.

A man from Liberty and a man from Columbia were also arrested and charged.

Springfield City Utilities Launching Floating Wetlands at Fellows Lake

Springfield City Utilities says it’s working with the Department of Conservation to launch floating wetlands at Fellows Lake.

The launch of the man-made structure is to improve water quality and create an aquatic habitat.

The floating wetland, which contains no plastic components, is made of aluminum and filled with lightweight foamed glass, that when combined with various species of native plants, will float in a cove near the boat dock at the north end of the causeway of the lake near the intersection of Farm Roads 197 and 68.
