Ozarks Food Harvest Receives 2 Major Donations

Ozarks Food Harvest has announced that seven Dollar General stores in the area are donating more than 13,000 pounds of refrigerated and frozen food to their partner food pantries rather than having it spoil due to recent power outages.

Tyson Foods is also donating nearly 39,000 pounds of protein to help families facing hunger.

Ozarks Food Harvest says none of their faith-based partner charities had power issues during the recent storms.

Governor Asked President for Major Disaster Declaration

Governor Mike Kehoe has asked President Donald Trump to approve a major disaster declaration to provide federal assistance in response to the severe weather in Missouri during March and April.

Six people died in these storms.

The governor asked for assistance for 26 counties.

He had previously asked for assistance for 18 of those 26 counties on April 2.

Governor Kehoe asked for both Individual Assistance for eligible residents and Public Assistance for local governments and non-profit agencies.

Melaine Stinnett Running for State Senate

A State Representative has announced her candidacy for the State Senate.

Republican Melaine Stinnett who is the representative for House District 133 has announced she is running for State Senate District 30 to replace current State Senator Lincoln Hough, who is term limited.

She says if elected she will continue her fight for safer streets, better schools, and healthier families.

As Day 3 of cleanup and power restoration efforts continue following Tuesday’s severe storms in the Ozarks, The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management and its partners will hold a media briefing at 3:00pm Thursday at the Greene County Public Safety Center.

Officials will provide an update on power restoration, storm and debris removal, and emergency response and recovery success.
