Mercy Offering New Cancer Screenings

Mercy is offering a new cancer screening that can detect hard-to-find cancers earlier.

Multi-cancer early detection screening is a blood test that detects nearly 50 types of cancer earlier. Dr. Nathan Tonlaar says cancer cells share DNA in the bloodstream, and the new test can detect it.

Tonlaar says the test costs about 950 dollars and is not currently covered by insurance.

Contractor In Branson Shuts Down Water Line

Some residents of Branson went without water after a contractor hit a water line.

A crew working on West Highway 76 damaged the water line, causing a leak. Water had to be shut off on the north side of West Highway 76 Country Boulevard between 1805 and 1945 while the leak was repaired.

Cyclist Seriously Injured In Springfield

A bicyclist has life-threatening injuries after a crash on Campbell Avenue in Springfield Monday night.

Police say the cyclist was northbound on Campbell near Normal Street when a van hit the cyclist. Police don’t know if the cyclist was riding or pushing the bicycle.

Officers say there is no evidence the driver of the van was impaired or speeding.

Former Carl Junction Teacher Charged With Child Pornography

A former teacher in the Carl Junction district has been charged with Possessing Child Pornography and Stalking.

Investigators say they found numerous images of Child Pornography on Craig Smith’s devices, including a school-issued device. Smith is also accused of stalking a student for several years.

The district placed Smith on administrative leave when the investigation began last year and later fired him.

Oklahoma Police Officer Charged In Lawrence County

A police officer from Oklahoma is charged with theft and third-degree domestic assault in Lawrence County.

Landon Corbus is accused of being intoxicated, physically assaulting a woman, and stealing her phone. Corbus lives in Mount Vernon, and the alleged assault occurred at his home on January 31st.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is also investigating Corbus for allegedly assaulting a woman during her arrest. Corbus is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.

Oklahoma Police Officer Jailed In Lawrence County

An Oklahoma police officer is jailed in Lawrence County on charges of domestic violence and theft.

Court documents say 28-year-old Landon Corbus of Miami, Oklahoma, is charged with stealing and third-degree domestic violence.

The Mt. Vernon Police Department says the victim told the Prosecutor’s Office that Corbus was intoxicated and pulled her around her house, shook her, and slammed her to the floor.

He also took her phone and wouldn’t give it back.

He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.

Nevada Woman Dies In Crash

A woman was killed in a crash near Nevada.

The Highway Patrol says a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Nevada woman ran off the road, striking a utility pole and overturning into a creek.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
