Charges Filed In Murder of Ft Wood Soldier

Charges have now been filed in the murder of a Fort Leonard Wood soldier.

The Army Office of Special Trial Council has charged 21-year-old 5th Engineer Battalion Specialist Wooster Rancy of North Miami, Florida with murder and obstructing justice.

He was arrested in for the death of Sergeant Sarah Roque.

Roque’s body was found in a dumpster on post on October 21.

Fatal Crash In Taney County

A man is dead after a crash on Highway 76 east of Powersite.

The Highway Patrol says 58-year-old Mark Ersery of Branson was killed when the car he was a passenger in lost control on a curve, crossed the centerline and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Ersery died at the scene.

The drivers of both cars were taken to Springfield hospitals.

Fire Breaks Out at Storage Building near Kansas and Kearney in Springfield

A restaurant in Springfield is looking to repair damage after a nearby storage building caught fire.

Officials say the building, located behind the Beef-a-Roo on Kansas and Kearney, caught fire just before 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

The flames burned up one side of the building, causing what firefighters call “extensive damage”.

Crews were able to contain the flames. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Local Mayor Denies Allegations Of Residency Fraud

The Mayor of Billings is denying allegations that she lied about her residency eligibility.

Melissa Venable faces criminal charges, and investigators say she lied on paperwork about where she lives. State law says a candidate has to live within the city for a year before running for Mayor.

Authorities say witnesses reported Venable actually lives in Marionville, with utilities and other public record backing those claims.

Venable will appear before a judge in January.

Man Sentenced For Threating a Supermarket Employee

A man accused of holding a gun on a supermarket employee has been sentenced to probation.

A judge sentenced 72-year-old Larry Gay of Republic to 180 days in jail and two years’ supervised probation.

The judge suspended the jail sentence later.

A probable cause statement said Gay held a gun to the throat of a supermarket employee after they told him he was not allowed to pack his own meat.
