After Extensive Debates, Greene County Commission Stands Against James River Freeway Expansion

The Greene County Commission is now standing with landowners against the proposed expansion of James River Freeway.

The project, which has been debated for months, would extend James River up towards Springfield-Branson National Airport, and also would loop into northern Springfield and across both Highway 13 and Highway 65 up to Fair Grove.

City officials say the GCC wrote to the Ozarks Transportation Organization on Tuesday of this week, asking that MoDOT remove the proposal from its list of high-priority projects.

While the commission has declared they are against the project, they can only make a recommendation. The decision is ultimately up to the state and MoDOT whether to go ahead with the expansion, or not.
