Health Department Returns To Bengsch Building Next Week

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department will move back to the Bengsch Building Tuesday.

The first phase of the renovations has been completed.

With the exception of some administrative offices, Friday will be the last day in the Cox Medical Tower.

The Bengsch Building has been closed for renovations since February.

Goat Stolen From Springfield Fair

The petting zoo at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds was missing a baby goat for several hours Tuesday. Police say a girl tucked the five day old goat into her shirt and ran away.

Animal experts were worried about the health of the baby goat, stating goats of that age will die if separated from their mother for more than 24 hours.

The goat was returned early Wednesday morning, but the Springfield police department is conducting a full investigation.

Man Stabbed to Death in Verona, Lawrence County Authorities Arrest Suspect

One man is dead, and another is in custody after a stabbing in a vehicle in Verona.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office say the victim was found dead inside a car along Washington Street, following an assistance call from the Verona Police Department.

Shortly after the victim was discovered, another man was arrested near the scene of the stabbing. The suspect was taken into custody, but no formal charges have been filed at this time.

The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released to the public. The investigation into the stabbing death is ongoing.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Laclede County

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Highway “M-M” in Laclede County.

The Highway Patrol says 46-year-old Albert Ishman of Phillipsburg was attempting to pass another vehicle when he ran his bike off of the left side of the road and overturned in a ditch.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman Arrested For Stabbing Store Employee

A woman has been arrested after allegedly robbing the Caseys on West Chestnut Expressway and stabbing an employee.

Springfield Police say a witness told them the suspect was filling several bags with merchandise.

When the employee stopped her at the door, she dropped the bags and pulled out a knife stabbing the employee.

Police recognized her on security camera video as 29-year-old Sierra Davis.

Davis admitted she stabbed the Caseys employee.

She is being held in the Greene County Jail.

Mother from Springfield Charged after Toddler Son Dies of Meth, Fentanyl Overdose

A woman from Springfield is in custody, facing several charges in connection with the death of her two-year-old son.

Springfield Police say Hannah Boemmels contacted officers in June of 2023 after she found her son unresponsive.

She admitted at that time to smoking meth out of a glass pipe earlier that day.

The boy was pronounced dead, and a day later tested positive for having meth, fentanyl, and morphine in his system.

Boemmels admitted to authorities she had smoked meth on a weekly basis for 14 years, but claimed she had never done drugs in front of her children.

She is charged with felony first-degree endangerment of the welfare of a child resulting in death, and felony first-degree endangerment of a child creating substantial risk.

Boemmels bond has been set at $100,000, and she is being held at the Greene County Jail.

Woman from Stoutland Dead Following Car Crash near Camdenton

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after a woman from Stoutland was killed in a car crash near Camdenton.

Troopers say 33-year-old Clourisa Standley was travelling on Willow Creek Road near Burns Drive Monday night when her vehicle went off the road, hit a tree, then flipped.

Standley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but wound up dying of her injuries.

It is the 26th traffic fatality for MSHP Troop F in 2024.

UPDATE: Charges Filed In Fatal Shooting

Charges have been filed in a fatal shooting in Springfield parking lot over the weekend.

Springfield police say 34-year-old Issiah Church is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in a shooting at the Wicked Superstore on Kearney Sunday morning.

Police say the victim, 31-year-old D’Vaunte Grant, died at a local hospital from a gunshot wound.

Officers arrested Church after a short standoff at a house on North Lexington Avenue.

Church is being held in the Greene County Jail.

City of Merriam Woods Audited by State

State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick’s office is auditing the city of Merriam Woods.

The Board of Alderman requested the audit after discrepancies and misappropriation were found in with the city’s bank accounts and credit cards.

The audit came after the State Auditor’s office investigated a complaint to the Whistleblower Hotline.

Springfield Police Respond To Fatal Shooting

Springfield Police are investigating a fatal shooting in a parking lot on East Kearney Sunday morning.

A citizen took D’Vaunte Grant to the hospital before police arrived at the parking lot of “The Wicked Superstore” on East Kearney.

Grant, who is from Texas, died at the hospital. Police found the suspected shooter at a home on North Lexington and arrested him shortly after.
