Man from Springfield Spending Decades in Prison for Child Sex Crimes

A man from Springfield accused of sexually assaulting a child for years will spend years in prison after entering a guilty plea.

Prosecutors say Sebastian Mayhew pleaded guilty to charges of child molestation and statutory rape on Thursday.

He was initially charged with three counts of rape and one count of child molestation.

Court records show that Mayhew allegedly sexually abused a child for a five year period, beginning when the child was four years old.

He was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for each charge, but there has been no indication of they will be served concurrently or separately.

Three-Car Crash Causes Traffic Delays on Sunshine in Springfield

Authorities in Springfield are investigating a three-car crash that caused widespread traffic on Sunshine.

The crashed happened Thursday morning near the Enterprise intersection just before 8:30 a.m.

The pile-up caused all westbound lanes to close while crews cleaned up debris.

Injuries were reported in the crash, but the severity has not been released at this time.

The roadway was completely reopened at around 10:30 a.m.

Lower Utility Bills for CU Customers

City Utilities of Springfield expects utility bills to be lower this Winter.

CU Officials say natural gas prices are low and expected to stay that way throughout the Winter.

That means residents who use an average of 127 therms a month will save about $40 a month from December to March.

Officials also say that higher bills from Winter Storm Uri in 2021 that were spread out over 2 years have ended.

Fugutive Search by Greene County Authorities

Greene County authorities are looking for a fugitive wanted for violating his probation.

Bret Goddard is on probation for possession of a controlled substance. Authorities say he has a history of assault and weapons charges.

Investigators believe he is in Greene or Christian County.

Goddard is 6’2″, 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has 417 tattooed on his left wrist, the initials J S on his left hand, the word Psalm on his right arm, and a guitar on his left arm.

FBI Investigating Missouri ATM Robberies

The F-B-I is investigating the theft of some A-T-M machines in southwest Missouri.

Investigators say that in each of the three robberies, the perpetrators used a stolen truck to pull apart the A-T-M machines and remove the cash inside.

The most recent was in October at a Southern Bank location in Ozark.

Federal prosecutors have charged Nigel Luchin of Houston, Texas, with bank robbery after they found his driver’s license in one of the stolen trucks.

Man from Springfield Accused of Trying to Steal Tesla, Hitting Owner

A man from Springfield is in custody after allegedly trying to steal a Tesla, and hitting the owner with the car in the process.

Springfield Police say 27-year-old Kendrick Price arrived at a home around 7 a.m. on Weller Avenue near Dale Street when he tried to steal the car.

The owner’s security measures went off, and he went outside to confront Price.

Reports say Price then got into the car, at which point the owner got behind the vehicle to stop him from leaving.

The owner says Price backed the car into him, breaking his arm and knocking him to the ground.

He was arrested a short time after with a passenger in the vehicle.

Price is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and attempting to steal a motor vehicle.

The identity of the Tesla owner has not been released.

SPD Investigating Stabbing

Springfield Police are investigating a stabbing that happened Tuesday afternoon.

Officers found the victim with stab wounds in the 2800 block of East Division street around 5 pm. He was rushed to a hospital.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Deadly Crash on I-44 between Car and Pedestrian

The Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash between a car and a pedestrian on I-44 just East of Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.

Troopers say when they arrived on scene around six Wednesday morning, CPR was being administered to the victim, who later died.

Election Results November 7, 2023

There were only a few ballot issues being voted on in Tuesday’s election.

The biggest issue was in Bolivar R-12 school district voters went to the polls to reject a 20-cent tax levy to be a part of the O-T-C District.

The cities of Branson West, Marrionville, Marshfield, and Seymour all passed sales tax on recreational marijuana.

Branson and the Lake Area passed a tourism tax.

Branson West voted yes on a waterworks bond issue and sales tax to support public safety.

Barton County and Marionville passed a use tax.

Home Intruder Shot In Reeds Spring

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner shot and killed an intruder over the weekend.

Investigators say the incident happened Saturday night at a home in Reeds Spring.

The homeowner shot the intruder when they were violently attacked.

The Stone County Sherriff’s Department secured the scene.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division is conducting the investigation which is on-going currently.
