Nearly $10 Million in Road Improvements Coming to Springfield

With the help of the federal government, the city of Springfield could see close to $10 million in roadway improvements.

The Springfield City Council is considering a measure that would put $9.2 million into the city’s roadway infrastructure, with roughly 20% coming from taxpayer money.

The other 80% would be matched by the U.S. government.

The improvements would also cover traffic signal improvements, as well as sidewalk and crosswalk improvements.

The council unanimously approved the three grants on August 7, but will vote to confirm it on August 21.
