62 year old Timothy Steeley faced child abuse and sodomy charges following a 20-month investigation.

The prosecutor says her office reviewed the case and decided not to continue with it, dropping all charges.

Lebanon Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charge

A Laclede County man is facing child pornography charges.

The Lebanon Police Department says 44-year-old Karl Mason of Lebanon has been charged with one count of Class B promoting child pornography in the first degree and one count of Class D promoting child pornography second degree, and seven counts of possession of child pornography.

Lake Area Cyber Crimes Task Force and Lebanon P-D received a tip and arrested Mason after a search warrant.

He is in the Laclede County Jail without bond.

Apartment Building Damaged by Fire near Missouri State University

Investigators in Springfield are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment complex near the Missouri State campus.

Crews were called to the area of National and Walnut at around 11 p.m. Monday night, where they witnesses a fire coming out of an apartment.

Officials say the flames were put out in around five minutes, and caused smoke and fire damage.

The tenant of the apartment noticed smoke coming from his unit when he get home, and rushed inside to save his dogs.

No one was injured during the fire.

Orphaned Cougar Cub Adopted by Dickerson Park Zoo

The Dickerson Park Zoo has welcomed an orphaned cougar cub.

The female cougar cub was found in Washington State by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. It is believed to be four months old.

The zoo staff has named the cub Drax. It is not yet on exhibit.

Skeletal Remains Found Last Month Near Elfendale Identified

Springfield Police have identified skeletal remains found on Elfendale Street last month.

In a news release, the police department says the remains belonged to 40-year-old Susan McInturff of Harrison, Arkansas.

The remains were found on February 13 by a maintenance worker in a wooded area near the Rivendale Institute of Learning.

Springfield Police believe there was nothing suspicious about the woman’s death.

Springfield Man Indicted for Child Pornography

A Federal Grand jury has indicted a man for possession of child pornography.

Federal court documents say 56-year-old Craig Rhoden has been indicted on receipt and distribution of child porn.

The federal indictment shows Rhoden received and distributed porn between May 2021 and December 2022.

Rhoden is also facing charges of making videos of children at a Springfield Wal-Mart where he was employed.

Annual Report from Springfield Police Shows Gun Violence on the Rise

The Springfield Police Department has released their annual report for 2022, and it shows that gun related incidents are rising in the city.

In a release from the department, the number of shots fired calls in Springfield rose from 2021, as did the number of illegal guns that were seized by officers.

The number of individuals injured by gunfire was also hire last year compared to 2021.

Officials with SPD say gun violence is its top priority.

The report shows that other crimes, such as violent crime and property crimes, saw a decrease in 2022.

Suspect Identified in Apparent Homicide in Lebanon

The identity of a man being investigated for killing another man in Lebanon has now been released.

Investigators say 26-year-old Jimmie Sanders was arrested Sunday morning and is believed to be connected to the shooting death of 25-year-old Ryan Holloway

Laclede County deputies were called to the scene along Park Drive in Lebanon, near State Highway 32 at around 9:45 a.m. where they found Holloway dead from a gunshot wound.

Deputies say approximately 15 minutes later, another call came in referencing the shooting and requesting police to the area of Pleasant Drive near Goldenrain Lane.

Sanders was arrested at that time and is currently facing charges of domestic abuse.

Investigators believe that the two incidents are separate, but related in some way.

Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap says the investigation is still ongoing.

Glenstone Avenue Improvement Plans

A nine-mile long project to improve Glenstone Avenue in Springfield starts this week.

Work starts near the East Stonebridge Drive intersection and ends at the James River Freeway on and off ramps.

Cews will resurface the roadway, improve sidewalks, install fiber optic cable, and improve traffic opperations at some of the side street intersections.
