Man from Rolla Charged in Father’s Death

A man from Rolla is facing charges of murder for allegedly killing his father.

Prosecutors have charged 19-year-old Samuel Karlinski with second-degree murder in the death of Ralph Karlinski Jr.

Investigators say they responded to the scene Monday morning following a call of shots fired, where they found the elder Karlinski dead.

Officers say he was shot three times.

A handgun and shell casings were recovered at the scene, and Samuel was arrested.

He told police that he shot his father in self-defense.

Parson Doubles Down on Death Sentence for 2004 Quadruple Homicide

Governor Parson says the State of Missouri will carry out the death sentence of Leonard Taylor tonight at the state prison in Bonne Terre.

Taylor murdered his girlfriend, Angela Row, and her three children in St. Louis in 2004.

Parson says despite his “Self-serving claim of innocence,” the facts of Taylor’s guilt in this gruesome quadruple homicide remain.

The governor says the state will carry out the sentence according to the court’s order and “deliver justice for the four innocent lives he stole.”

West Plains Police Department Searching for Woman in Connection with Hit-and-Run at Local Walmart

Officers with the West Plains Police Department are trying to locate a woman they believe was involved in a hit and run involving a pedestrian.

The woman in question was allegedly driving a car in the parking lot of the West Plains Walmart February 2 on Preacher Roe Boulevard near Highway 160 when she hit the pedestrian.

The condition of the pedestrian is not known at this time.

Police say they have identified the woman through photos, but have not released her name.

Body Found in I-44 Median Identified

The Highway Patrol has identified a body found in the median of I-44 near the West Bypass exit in Springfield.

Troopers say Craig Griffitts from California was hit by a car around 4:40 Monday morning.

The vehicle was driven by a man from Republic. Authorities did not get a call about the body until 11:30 am.

Troopers closed down one lane of the interstate to investigate.

Some Recreational Marijuana Sales Started Over the Weekend

Today is the deadline for marijuana dispensaries to receive approval to sell recreational marijuana.

Some dispensaries began sales this past weekend.

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services officials say 97% of dispensaries submitted requests to sell recreational marijuana on December 8th. The department has approved 335 of the states medical marijuana facilities to sell recreational marijuana.

Lebanon Man Has New Sex Crime Charges Against Him

A man from Lebanon charged with sex crimes against children now faces more charges.

Thomas Kincheloe has new charges of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy with a person younger than 12, second degree child molestation, and third degree child molestation against him.

The victims were allegedly assaulted while staying at a home babysitting operation run by Kincheloe’s wife.

Convicted Drug-Trafficker Arrested Again on Drug Trafficking Charges in Laclede County

Prosecutors in Laclede County have filed charges against a previously convicted drug-trafficker for allegedly committing the crime again.

41-year-old Scott Bonner is charged with possession of drugs and trafficking of drugs. He served a 16 year sentence for similar charges in 2018, but was paroled last year.

Investigators say they attempted to stop Bonner along Owl Drive in Lebanon over the weekend, but he led authorities on a pursuit that finally ended near the intersection of Taylor and Mizer Street.

He then led Laclede County Sheriff’s deputies on a foot chase before being apprehended.

When they searched the vehicle, officers say they found 3.5 pounds of meth, 12 grams of heroin and over $5,000 in cash.

Evangel University Donates 800 Blankets to Charities in Springfield

Due to an excess amount of blankets, Evangel University is donating the extra to those in need.

Schools officials say the blankets were intended for student housing, but the supply was greater than the demand.

Four nonprofit or charity organizations received donations:

  • International Institute: 300 blankets
  • The Kitchen: 200 blankets
  • Veterans Coming Home Center: 200 blankets
  • Hope Homes of the Ozarks: 100 blankets

Autumn Walker, the director of conference and event services at Evangel, said, “We are so glad they are going to be put to good use.”

Rolla Man Leaves Body in Home for 3 Days

A man from Rolla is being charged after leaving a body in his home for three days.

Investigators say Brian Chambers is charged with abandonment of a corpse after discovering Jessica Allen on January 14th.

Police say he contacted them via email on January 17th to report her dead after an apparent overdose.

Hawley Pushes for Medicare and Social Security to be Left Out of Debt Ceiling Talks

Missouri Senior Senator Josh Hawley is pushing for Medicare and Social Security to be removed from debt ceiling negotiations.

Hawley said Thursday that the two should be off limits and not to be used as bargaining chips. He also said that he believes the two parties will be able to reach an agreement.
