Two Men Arrested On Federal Firearm Charges

Two men have been arrested on federal gun charges related to local gang activity.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department says 19 year-old Ezekiel King (above left) and 19 year-old Jardell Williams (above right) are in the Greene County Jail for Federal Firearms violations.

They are linked to several shootings in the Springfield area dating back to 2021.

The Sheriff’s Office says the A-T-F and multiple agencies assisted them in investigating the recent shootings and gang-related activity.

Ozark License Office To Reopen Tuesday

The Ozark License Office will reopen next week after the collapse of a nearby building Wednesday.

The Ozark Fire Department has given them clearance to reopen, although there will be safety fencing up and no parking in front of the building.

The License Office will open at 8:30 AM Tuesday morning.

Planned Parenthood to Continue Receiving Public Funding

A ruling from a judge will allow for Planned Parenthood to continue receiving
public funding.

Reports say Cole County Judge Jon Beetem ruled that a state law
ending reimbursements for the nonprofit for Medicare patient healthcare was
unconstitutional.

The state will be required to reimburse Planned Parenthood for
birth control, cancer screenings and other healthcare measures, but not for
abortion.

Bolivar City Administrator Retiring

Bolivar City Administrator Tracy Slagle is announcing her retirement.

Slagle presented her formal retirement notice to the city’s Board of Alderman during a
closed session on December 13th, which the board unanimously accepted. Reports
say her last day in office will be Sunday, January 15th. Slagle began working fo rhte
city of Bolivar in 2012.

Missouri Highway Patrol Issues Warning about Impaired Drivers this Weekend

The Highway Patrol is urging you to be aware of other drivers if out and about during the New Year’s weekend.

Reports say during the last New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day period, there were 331 injuries and one death that occurred in over 1,000 traffic crashes statewide.

Sgt. Mike McClure with the Highway Patrol says there were 15 people charged with DWI in that same period.

He urges all drivers to use defensive driving techniques, including obeying traffic laws, making sure all people in the vehicle are wearing seat belts, and obeying the speed limit.

McClure says at the end of the day, be a “defensive driver”.

Names of Victims in Springfield Double-Homicide Released

Springfield Police are releasing the names of the victims in an apparent double-homicide.

Reports say officers were called to a home on North Link Avenue near Turner Street Wednesday night, where they found 30-year-old Deundrea Woods suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police and ambulance crews performed first aid and transported Woods to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Authorities say they then entered the home, where they found 25-year-old Mackenzie Lashley-Childers dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

An infant was also found inside the home, treated for minor injuries, and released to the custody of a family member.

SPD says they have not identified any suspects in the murders at this time.

Woman Dies After Car Crash In Early December

A woman involved in a car crash in Springfield earlier this month has died from her injuries.

Springfield Police say the victim is 76 year old Sharon Walker of Springfield.

The crash occurred on December 6 as Walker was turning from Campbell Avenue onto Walnut Lawn Street.

Willard Man Sentenced After Threatening Son’s Basketball Coach

A man from Willard will spend 5 years on probation after threatening his son’s basketball coach.

Prosecutors say that Brian Pellham pleaded guilty to making a terroristic threat after he admitted to threatening the coach during a junior varsity game last January between Morrisville and Branson.

Reports say Pellham could have been sentenced to up to four years in prison.

Building Collapse on Ozark Square

A historic building on the downtown square of Ozark is no loner in one piece.

The building on the corner of First and church street that housed Adventure Coffee collapsed Thursday morning.

Reports from the Ozark Police Department share that no injuries have been reported, and crews are asking the public to steer clear of the scene while they work to evacuate neighboring buildings and clear the rubble.

One Dead after Pedestrian Hit by Car in Miller County

The Highway Patrol is investigating after a man from Eldon was hit and killed by a car.

Reports say 20-year-old George Cook was walking along U.S. Highway 54 outside of Eldon Wednesday night at around 7 p.m. when he was hit by an SUV driving along the road.

The driver of the SUV told investigators that he hit the brakes to try and prevent the crash, but couldn’t stop in time.

Police say after hitting Cook, the driver went off the highway and hit a road sign.

Cook was transported to Lake Regional Hospital for medical attention, but later died of his injuries.
