Zimmer Radio Stations Raise Honor Flight of the Ozarks Radiothon Record $35,870

Thanks to the generous donations of our listeners, the Honor Flight of the Ozarks Radiothon has raised a record $35,870 to send our veterans to Washington, D.C.

“That is an Honor Flight of the Ozarks record,” said Mike Totten, Public Relations Director for the Honor Flight of the Ozarks.

The radiothon, which aired on 93-3 A-M 560 KWTO, began at 6 a.m. Friday and went until 6:10 p.m.

It featured live, in studio and recorded interviews with veterans and honor flight reps, including Mike Totten, Chris Nattinger, Pete Rothrock, Rosie Reid, Dr. Tom Lewis, Jack Hamlin, Dale and Bob Dothage, Dave Thater, David Snider, Mike Williamson, Gerald Harris, Pete Rothrock, Jeff Jones, Ned Reynolds, Jim Turney, and Miles Sweeney,

SPD Crackdown on Expired Tags

The Springfield Police Department says it will put more emphasis on expired permanent or temporary tags.

This will be part of the department’s increased presence at four of the cities major intersections. They will also be looking for vehicles with no tags.

Comments on the departments social media sites said they should focus on more serious crimes, but the department pointed out that expired or missing tags usually lead to arrests for serious crimes.

Duggar Attorneys Receive Appeal Extension

Josh Duggar’s attorneys have received a 30 day extension to file a legal brief in the appeal of his child pornography conviction.

Duggar was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison and 20 years of supervised release. Duggar is appealing his conviction.

He is currently in a federal prison near Dallas, Texas.

KWTO Honor Flight of the Ozarks Radiothon Goes Through 6 p.m.

The KWTO Honor Flight of the Ozarks Radiothon, sponsored by Henry’s Towing, is underway, and you’re invited to call the Honor Flight of the Ozarks Phone Bank at 417-865-0969. 

Through 6 p.m. Friday, we’ll be asking for your donations to help send our veterans to Washington D.C. All of the money raised during the radiothon is used for the Honor Flight of the Ozarks as they fly our heroes to Washington, where veterans from the World War II, Korea and Vietnam war eras visit numerous memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.

Honor Flight of the Ozarks made its first flight in May, 2014, with 63 veterans, 63 guardians, staff and medical personnel on board a chartered aircraft.

On May 10th, 2022, Honor Flight of the Ozarks completed its 17th Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., bringing a total of 2,250 veterans having participated on our Honor Flights.

Honor Flight of the Ozarks is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charity, with all contributions tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Honor Flight of the Ozarks is an all-volunteer organization. Approximately 99% of the money raised is directly used to support the veterans’ flights.

Storm Winds Cause Damage In Purdy

A storm Wednesday evening caused some damage in a Barry County community.

Several trees and roofs were damaged by heavy winds in Purdy Wednesday around 5:30 PM.

A large tree fell across the driveway of a recovery home.

No word from the National Weather Service on if this was a tornado.

New Poll Shows Attorney General Eric Schmitt Leading U.S. Senate Race

In a new poll released Thursday from SurveyUSA, current Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt is leading in the race for the states second U.S. Senate seat.

The polling shows Schmitt with 28% of the total vote, with former Governor Eric Greitens close behind at 20%.

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler rounds out the top three, collecting 13% of the vote, with Billy Long at 8% in a distant 4th.

The poll acknowledged an important 21% of voters as undecided in the Republican primary. 44% of voters said they would likely vote for the candidate Donald Trump endorses, if he chooses to do so.

In the Democratic primary, Trudy Busch Valentine secured 40% of the poll, with Lucas Kunce at 14%.

Some 2,000 registered voters participated in SurveyUSA’s polling.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard files Marriage Certificate from Prison

Gypsy Rose Blanchard of Springfield, MO crime fame has married a Louisiana man, Ryan Scott from Prison.

It is still unverified as to how the marriage took place, but the Livingston County Recorder of Deeds verified the certificate.

Blanchard is still serving her 10 year sentence for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, which resulted in a series of true-crime documentaries and a blockbuster film based on the Springfield crime.
