Police in Lamar have identified the victim of a fatal fire over the weekend as Betty Jo Parker.
Investigators say Parker, who was 71, ran back inside her burning home to try to save a family pet.
She was overcome with smoke.
When fire crews arrived at the house at 10th Street and Grand, the home was already in flames, with heavy smoke.
Another resident, William Parker, 67, is being treated for non life threatening injuries at a local hospital.
