Missouri Bill Criticized by Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Struck Down

A proposed Missouri law that has garnered the name “Make Murder Legal Act” by some opposed to the bill, is dead in the water in the Missouri State Legislature.

A Senate Committee stepped forward and blocked the measure.

The proposed bill would have forced law enforcement to see every shooting as self-defense first unless proven otherwise, making it difficult for authorities to make arrests in cases of violent crimes.

A prosecutor in Stoddard County referred to the proposal as the “Make Murder Legal Act” during a hearing this week.

Earlier this week, both Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams and Greene County Prosecutor spoke out against the bill as well.
