Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) weighed in on his potential future partner in the US Senate, representing the state of Missouri.
Congressman Billy Long (R-MO) announced his candidacy for the 2022 Senate election, running for Senator Roy Blunt’s (R-MO) upcoming open seat. Running to keep his seat is current Freshman Senator Josh Hawley, who made a statement on the open seat following Congressman Long’s announcement to run that he made on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News cable show.
Hawley’s statement reads,
“I think that the seat’s really important. This is a vitally important seat, the people of Missouri deserve excellent representation in the U.S. Senate, and this is a seat that’s vital for Republicans. I believe we’re gonna take back the Senate in 2022, but we’ve gotta win in Missouri to do it, so I’m doing my whole work on the candidates, those who I don’t know very well, try to get to know them and I’ll try to do my part to make sure that we get the best possible candidate,” – Senator Josh Hawley
Among the other notable names running for Senator Roy Blunt’s seat so far include Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Attorney Mark McCloskey, Attorney General Eric Schmitt, Former MO Governor Eric Greitens, and Former MO State Senator Scott Sifton (D-MO)
