Hours Revised for Missouri’s Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline

State leaders have changed the hours of Missouri’s Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline, saying it will allow for increased staffing during times of the highest call volume.

State health officials say the hotline will now operate from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., effective Wednesday.

They say the change will better serve those needing to report concerns of abuse, neglect and exploitation of elderly and disabled Missourians.

President Biden is set to address the nation Tuesday afternoon on ending America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan.

Biden is scheduled to deliver remarks about ending the war at 1:45 p.m. CDT.

The White House has set up a live stream on hits You Tube channel (below) so viewers can watch the speech in real time.

The last American plane left Afghanistan Monday afternoon U.S. time, concluding America’s evacuation effort.

Part of the President’s remarks are expected to give insight into his decision to not remain in Afghanistan beyond the August 31st deadline.

Judge Reopens Lindenlure To Public

A popular swimming area in Christian County will soon be open to the public again.

Judge Laura Johnson has ruled that the Lindenlure Access to the Finley River should be open to the public.

She ruled that Canyon Road, leading to the Lindenlure Access, is not private property.

She said the defendants is the case, Mike and Carla Adams, have 20 days to remove the concrete barricades and gate blocking public access to popular swimming hole.

Republic Schools Change Mask Policy

The Republic School District will no longer require students to wear mask except on buses.

The school says masking will be recommended but not required.

The new masking policy will start Tuesday, August 31.

Man Arrested For Sexually Abusing Girls

A Springfield man is behind bars after sexually abusing children for several years.

Edward Martinez is accused of sexually abusing several young girls between the ages of 4 and 13 over several decades.

Martinez was arraigned Monday and entered a plea of not guilty.

He is being held without bond because authorities believe he is a threat to the public.

Convoy of Hope Responds to Louisiana with Food and Supplies in Aftermath of Hurricane Ida

Springfield-based Convoy of Hope has responded to Louisiana to distribute food and supplies to the victims of Hurricane Ida.

Ida made landfall Sunday along the Louisiana coast as a Category 4 storm.

Convoy of Hope’s fleet has already deployed to northern Louisiana and will begin helping the hardest hit areas as soon as it is safe to do so.

“Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Services team prepared supplies and equipment to deploy ahead of the storm to help those affected as quickly as possible,” said Stacy Lamb, Senior Director of Convoy’s U.S. Disaster Services team.

The storm made landfall on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which was one of the costliest storms in U.S. history.

Man Drowned After Jumping From Cliff

A man has drowned at the Lake of Ozarks after jumping off of a cliff.

The Highway Patrol says 41 year old Thomas Painter of Bosworth jumped from 125 feet into the main channel at the 64.5 mile marker.

He never resurfaced.

Body of Missing Woman Found

The body of a missing Laclede County woman has been found two weeks after she was reported missing.

Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap says the body of 46 year old Heather Abbott was found in a wooded area near the intersection of Highway “Z” and “A-D” Highway between Falcon and Competition, which was a mile from her residence.

The cause of death is unknown but an autopsy is planned for today.

Woman in Critical Condition After Being Assaulted in North Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A woman is in critical condition after being assaulted in north Springfield Saturday morning.

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 200 block of West Atlantic Street around noon for a check well-being call.

As KOLR-10 reports, police say a woman was found critically injured and was transported to a local hospital.

Three Vehicle Crash Leaves Two Dead at Glenstone and Cherry

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Two people are dead after a three-vehicle crash at Cherry Street and Glenstone Avenue. Springfield Police were called to the scene just before 9:45 Friday evening.

Police say a red pickup was headed west on Cherry when it ran a red light. The pickup hit a white SUV that was headed north on Glenstone.

Police say the SUV became airborne and hit a semi-truck that was southbound on Glenstone.

KOLR-10 reports the man who was driving the semi was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the SUV was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.
