Memorial Day Celebration Monday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield

Ceremonies take place around the nation on this Memorial Day, remembering those who have died fighting for our country. ‘

A Memorial Day Celebration will be held Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery (5201 south Southwood) in Springfield at 1:30 p.m.

The ceremony will end at approximately 2:15 p.m. and guests are invited to tour the cemetery.

The guest speaker will be Col. (R) Mark Costello, and the 399th Army Band from Ft. Leonard Wood will be performing at the ceremony.

Out of respect for everyone present at the ceremony, you’re asked to wear a mask.

Primary parking will be available at The Springs Church at 5500 south Southwood with handicap parking available in the cemetery.

Shuttle service will be provided from the church to the cemetery.

Organizers say there will be some seating available, but it’s recommended guests bring a lawn chair.
