Springfield Planning and Zoning Commission has voted not to recommend that the new Pipkin Middle School be built at it’s proposed location.
The vote was 8-1.
Planning and Zoning Commissioners say they have concerns about accessibility for emergency vehicles and how the school would fit into an area surrounded by industrial businesses and so close to railroad tracks.
The School Board will have to approve the location with a two-thirds majority to override the Planning and Zoning Commission.
