First Case of Monkeypox Hits Greene County

The Springfield Greene County Health Department is reporting the first case of Monkeypox in the county.

Health department officials say the person tested positive for the Monkeypox virus, and those who may have been exposed to the virus have been contacted.

So far, only three cases of Monkeypox have been reported in Missouri.

Symptoms of Monkeypox include a blistering rash, fever, muscle aches, and exhaustion. Anyone with symptoms is asked to make a virtual appointment with a health care provider and not to use emergency rooms or urgent care.
