Former Owner of Local Gym Convicted of Murder in Neighbors Death

Pavel Samsinak, 48, has been convicted of four crimes, including second-degree murder and second-degree arson in the death of his neighbor, 66-year-old Alice Hall. He was also convicted of armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.

Hall was murdered in September of 2020 after she and Samsinak had a verbal altercation about a fence he was building between their properties. According to testimony, the argument escalated, and Samsinak killed Hall by beating her to death with a baseball bat. The bat was found by investigators at the crime scene.

Samsinak then set the house ablaze and watched the fire from a nearby convenience store.

The evidence against Samsinak was overwhelming, and included eye-witness testimony of the argument, and physical evidence on his cell phone, as well as the presence of blood inside his vehicle and in his residence.

Overwhelming evidence led to a short, 45 minute deliberation by the jury prior to the guilty verdict. Samsinak is being held in Greene County Jail without bond and is scheduled for sentencing on May 11.
