Thursday Winter Storm Update

The National Weather Service says we’re still on track to get 5 to 8 inches of snow across the Ozarks from this winter storm.

Forecasters say light to moderate snow will continue through early Thursday afternoon, with blowing and drifting of snow.

Additional light snow is expected Thursday night, with up to one additional inch possible.

Travel is treacherous in much of the Ozarks Thursday morning.

The MoDOT Traveler Information Map shows all roadways in southwest Missouri and really south of Interstate 70 being snow covered.

A number of arrivals and departures at Springfield-Branson National Airport have been canceled because of the winter storm, but there are some flights still on time, so check ahead with your airline before heading to the airport.

Here are preliminary snowfall totals across the Ozarks, as of 9 a.m.:

Springfield (5.8 inches at National Weather Service office in northwest Springfield)

Morrisville (4.5 inches)

Osceola (7.5 inches)

Joplin (4.25 inches)

Branson area (5.3 inches)

Republic (5.9 inches)

Nevada (2.5 inches)

Washburn (6.0 inches)

Fort Leonard (6.0 inches)

Cassville (6.0 inches)

Hermitage (6.0 inches)

Battlefield (6.0 inches)

Lebanon (5.0 inches)

West Plains (3.0 inches)
