Local health leaders are teaming up with higher education partners for more COVID-19 vaccine clinics in the coming week.
Here’s the rundown from a press release by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department:
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department will provide vaccine opportunities at Drury University and Ozarks Technical Community College in the coming week.
Clinics will be held at the main campuses of Drury University on September 13 from 11 am – 1 pm and OTC on September 17 from 10 am – 1 pm. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available. These clinics are open to anyone 12 years of age and older.
To date, the Health Department has administered 161 vaccines at clinics hosted at area colleges and universities. As of Friday, 48% of Greene County residents 12 and older are fully vaccinated while 53.4% are partially vaccinated. Among all eligible age groups, individuals 18 to 22 have the lowest vaccination rate of 22%.
“Our community’s higher education institutions play a pivotal role in helping increase vaccination rates among the student population,” said Director of Health Katie Towns. “Along with protecting their health, individuals who are fully vaccinated do not have to quarantine and miss out on important moments if they are exposed to the virus as long as they don’t develop symptoms.”
