Missouri State University Donates Property to Springfield For a Park Honoring Route 66

Missouri State University has donated more than 2600 square feet of property to Springfield for a park that honors local and national history.

Springfield City Council unanimously voted last week to accept the land for construction of a Birthplace of Route 66 plaza at Jefferson and Park Central East.

This plaza celebrates Springfield’s role in Route 66’s history in advance of its 100th anniversary in 2026.
