Extreme Heat Warning Extended Through Thursday: Cooling Centers Open and Pool Hours Extended

The extreme heat and humidity will continue through the week across the Ozarks.

The National Weather Service says an “extreme heat warning” is in effect through 7pm on Thursday.

Daily afternoon high temps will be in the mid to upper 90’s, with heat index readings between 100 and 110.

Warm overnight temps in the 70’s will provide little relief from the heat.

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has opened all three of its family cooling center entrance lobbies, as well as Brightspeed Ice Park, as free public cooling centers during the heat wave.

And some pool hours are being extended this week, with Silver Springs Pool on north Hampton in Springfield staying open until 8pm Tuesday, and Meador Pool on south Fremont open until 8pm Wednesday.
