High Winds Lead to Power Outages in Springfield

Strong winds moving through Springfield have caused power outages throughout the city. The Springfield City Utilities Outage Map shows almost 3,000 outages as of 11:45am.

C-U says crews are working to restore electricity as quickly and safely as possible.

If your power is out, you can report it through the City Utilities MyAccount app at www.cityutilities.net/app or by calling 1-888-863-9001.

While much of the Ozarks is under a Wind Advisory Wednesday afternoon, areas along the I-49 corridor are now under a High Wind Warning until 7:00pm Wednesday.

West winds at 25 to 35 miles per hour will create gusts up to 70, which are damaging winds that will blow down trees and power lines, with widespread power outages expected.

Travel will be difficult, especially high profile vehicles.

We’ve had reports of a power pole down in Pierce City, with a power pole down on a roadway in Marionville.

The National Weather Service office in Springfield reports a 57 mile per hour wind around 9:30 Wednesday morning.
