Flu cases in Greene County have nearly doubled over the last three weeks, according to the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, bringing the highest rate of cases since 2003.
Cases of pertussis (whooping cough) is also increasing drastically, with 21 cases in the first 36 days of the year. On average, the county sees a total of 12 cases per year.
In order to keep yourself, and those around you healthy, the CDC and the Springfield-Greene County Health Department suggest staying home when sick, washing hands frequently with soap and water, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, and coughing and sneezing into your elbow to prevent contamination of your hands.
