Springfield Police are searching for a man who allegedly encountered a woman and her three-week-old child and threatened to harm the baby.
Investigators say the incident happened Wednesday night at an apartment complex along East Cherry Street, when the man supposedly threatened to harm the baby.
Authorities were called at around 8:30pm, and tried to make contact with the man, but were unsuccessful.
When they arrived at the apartment, they found the baby unharmed.
Officers believe the man fled the scene before they arrived, and are still actively searching for him.
Both the baby and the child’s mother are safe. The identity of the man has not been released at this time.
