Winter Storm Update: Snow Coming in Two Waves

A winter storm this weekend will bring two rounds of accumulating snow to the Ozarks, along with bitterly cold temps.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9pm Friday through 6pm Sunday for all of southwest Missouri.

The National Weather Service says two rounds of snow will occur with this storm system, with round one late Friday night through Saturday afternoon.

Round two takes place Saturday evening through Sunday night/Monday morning.

The second round is expected to be much heavier with snowfall rates and amounts.

Meteorologists say don’t give up on the forecast if there is a break between rounds of snow, as more will be on the way.

Total accumulations of 6-14 inches can be expected by the end of Sunday.

The greatest snow amounts are expected along and south of I-44.

Brutal sub zero wind chills will add to the safety threat.

We’ll keep you posted with the latest on the winter storm.
