Man From Dallas County Arrested, Charged in Stabbing Incident

A man from Dallas County has been charged after an individual was reportedly stabbed on Tuesday.

Online court dockets show that Chase Mathias of Long Lane, MO has been charged with first-degree attempted assault, armed criminal action, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest for a felony.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies responded to a location around 5:30 p.m. where Mathias was reportedly having a mental breakdown.

Officials tried to make contact with the person who reported the incident and the victim at the front door of the residence when they heard Mathias yelling inside.

The deputy knocked on the door and asked Mathias to open it, but he refused.

Law enforcement went to the back door of the residence and made brief visual contact with victim, after which Mathias stated that he was not going to come outside.

One of the deputies saw Mathias through the window of the residence holding three knives and a meat fork in one hand and a baseball hat in the other.

Mathias reportedly told deputies that he wanted “to kill cops” and accused them of “killing his family”. He also stated that he stabbed a different victim.

The victim opened the front door of the residence and attempted to leave, and officials moved back to the front and assisted the victim out of the doorway.

SWAT officers took over around 8:00 p.m. after obtaining a search warrant for the residence, and they entered by a Bearcat.

Mathias approached them with a knife, but was shot with a less-lethal shotgun containing bean-bag rounds and was taken into custody.

He is currently in the Dallas County Jail with no bond and is scheduled for an initial appearance on November 25.
