An 83-year-old man has died following a drowning in Benton County on Friday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 9:55 a.m. at Osage Bluff Marina on Truman Lake when the man fell into the water underneath a boat lift.
A family member reportedly jumped into the water to retrieve the man but was unable to exit the water themselves.
Witnesses attempted to aid in the retrieval of the two individuals, but the MSHP incident report states that the 83-year-old man drowned. His next of kin has been notified of his passing.
According to the report, MSHP Troop A and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office aided in the incident.
